This morning’s small group began with exciting news—some of my friends made significant gains from the recent, unexpected stock market surge. Yet, beyond all the worldly success, what truly resonated in our hearts was a deeper realization: When we align ourselves with the rhythms of the world, the highs and lows become unbearable. One moment we feel like kings, and the next, like slaves. I’m grateful that we didn’t get swept away by the excitement of making a lot of money. Instead, our hearts recognized the danger in it. Our hearts weren’t designed to endure such a relentless roller coaster. Interestingly, the stock market chart resembles a heart rate chart. The world has its own beats, much like our hearts, but the difference is that not all of the world’s beats come from God. They are often violent and unstable, wearing down and exhausting our souls.
Knowing the truth, I now see that most of the highs are designed by the devil himself to tempt us. They are not true victories for our souls. On the contrary, they are prisons created by the devil to trap us forever. I no longer want to ride the world’s roller-coaster beats with my weak human heart. Instead, I want to flow in the peaceful river of God with a strong and steady Christ-centered heart, leading me to true victory and abundance both on earth and in heaven.
