I need to prepare Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, but I realized I don’t have a roasting pan. While I was at Walmart, I noticed they were selling one for just under $10, and I thought it was perfect. I grabbed it, but then I remembered to pray and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. The answer was no.
At first, I felt frustrated with that answer, but I chose to obey. Today, something incredible happened—my neighbor called, asking if I needed a roasting pan. She ended up bringing me hers, which had been sitting unused in her storage shed.
It might seem like a small thing, but experiences like this keep happening in my life, and they feel profound. I’ve never known this kind of close relationship with God before, where even the seemingly trivial aspects of life are part of His plan. This moment reminded me that all my actions, no matter how small, are seen by God: how I eat, what I buy, how I make decisions. It’s not just the big, life-changing events, God is equally present in the smallest, most overlooked details. He is everywhere, at all times.
It doesn’t fully make sense to my brain, but my heart understands. Every action, no matter how insignificant it seems, carries weight. Buying a roasting pan is as significant in God’s eyes as inventing solar panels. I don’t fully comprehend it, but I feel the truth of it deeply.
This realization is both humbling and scary, it means I matter. What I do matters. My actions hold a power I’m only beginning to understand. And through this, I’m learning a new lesson: purity. Purity in my intentions, my actions, and my decisions.
In 2024, my spiritual word was focus. For 2025, I’ve received my new word: purity.
Lord, help me seek Your approval in all things and obey Your will alone. I commit to walking this path, step by step, trusting in Your guidance.
