I got home at 12:30 last night and stayed up working for a few hours because ZQ had a deadline to meet. We only slept for four hours but still took Zuzu, her mom, and their two dogs to a park today. It was a wonderful day, filled with laughter, love, and, once again, lots of amazing food.
I was deeply touched by the relationship between Zuzu and her mom. It reminded me of the bond between my best friend and her mom, more like friends than the typical parent-child dynamic. Watching them makes me long for something different in my relationship with my own mom, something closer to what I’ve witnessed these past few days.
We also visited a dog shelter to make a donation. The shelter’s owner shared her story with us, a powerful and inspiring journey. She is working tirelessly to change laws and improve the lives of mistreated dogs in society. Her determination and compassion moved us to tears.
Oh Lord, my Lord, I am so grateful for everything that has happened since I landed in China. Each day brings new and inspiring experiences. Thank You for surrounding me with such wonderful people who reveal the beauty and goodness in human hearts, even in a world where so many seem to have grown indifferent. The purity I know in Christ is still alive, shining through in moments like these.
