Today, a couple of orange cats wandered into our yard. My cat looked so sad, watching them play outside while she was stuck indoors. She used to be a feral cat, so being outdoors is what truly makes her happy. We selfishly took her in, brought her into our RV, and traveled with her for two and a half years.
Now that we’ve settled down, it’s time to fulfill our promise to let her roam free again. So, tonight, we opened the door for her. At first, she was nervous, but soon enough, she was running joyfully around the yard. My husband and I felt a bit sad, knowing she won’t always be inside when we want to see her. But true love means letting go—allowing others to do what they truly want, rather than holding onto them for our own needs.
I already miss her presence, but knowing she’s out there, living freely and exploring the world, gives me comfort. It’s a difficult decision, but I know it’s the right one. I will always be here when she needs me, but otherwise, she is free to be herself.
